Maccabi Tel Aviv have moved to secure one of the driving forces behind last season's Israeli league title, agreeing a new contract with guard Iffe Lundberg, ONE reports.
The deal, reported by ONE on Monday, will keep the 31-year-old Dane in yellow for two more seasons, with the club holding an option for a third. ONE puts his salary at roughly $1.85 million a season before bonuses, a rise on the terms he signed when he first arrived in Tel Aviv.
Lundberg joined Maccabi last season from Partizan Belgrade, where he had just won the ABA League title under Zeljko Obradovic. He settled quickly into Oded Katash's rotation and became one of the team's most reliable perimeter options, the kind of player the club chairman openly credits with steadying the roster through a demanding year.
His production backs up the faith: 11.0 points and 3.6 assists a game in the EuroLeague, rising to 17.5 points and 4.0 assists in Israeli league play, according to ONE. He was singled out as one of the standout performers of the playoff final as Maccabi claimed the domestic championship.
"I am very excited to continue this journey with Maccabi," Lundberg said. "This is where I can fulfil my potential."
Club chairman Shimon Mizrahi framed the extension as part of a broader philosophy. "Signing Iffe Lundberg reinforces our continuity principle," he said.
Katash, who has leaned on Lundberg as a vocal presence in the locker room as much as a scorer, added: "We are very happy Iffe continues with us. He is an experienced leader who has integrated very well with the team."
Lundberg's path to Tel Aviv ran through some of Europe's biggest clubs. He won a Danish championship with Horsens IC, played for CSKA Moscow and Virtus Bologna, and in 2022 became the first Dane to appear in an NBA game, turning out for the Phoenix Suns before returning to Europe.
With the extension in place, Maccabi head into pre-season with their backcourt anchored around a player who has already shown he can produce when games matter most, a reassuring signal for a club still shaping the rest of its roster before the new EuroLeague campaign.
