Kings Kangwa took his place in Hapoel Beer Sheva's hall of fame on Monday, a farewell gesture from the club as the Zambian midfielder puts the finishing touches on a move to Panathinaikos, ONE reports.
"Some moments in football will stay with you forever," Kangwa said, according to ONE. "I'm excited to enter Hapoel Beer Sheva's hall of fame. This recognition means more than words can describe."
The 27-year-old arrived in Beer Sheva in July 2024 from Red Star Belgrade and needed only two seasons to make himself one of the most influential imports in the club's recent history.
He was central to Hapoel's run to the Ligat Ha'al championship, and he also collected the State Cup and the League Cup during his spell at the club, honours ONE credits directly to his impact in midfield.
Kangwa's form was recognised individually too — he was named the league's Player of the Season, capping a campaign in which his goals and creativity repeatedly turned games in Beer Sheva's favour.
That body of work has now taken him to Greece. Panathinaikos have moved to sign him, with Greek and Zambian outlets, including ZamFoot, reporting a package in the region of €4 million and a contract running to 2030 — terms Hapoel Beer Sheva have not themselves confirmed.
Kangwa is not quite done in yellow and black, however. His last assignment for the club is expected to be Wednesday's European qualifier away to Víkingur Reykjavík, before the move to Athens is finalised.
For a club that has built its recent identity on developing and cashing in on overseas signings, Kangwa's hall of fame induction is a rare formal marker — an acknowledgement that his two years in the Negev left a lasting mark before he moves on to a bigger stage.
